Phish
Report Network announced
Microsoft, eBay,
PayPal and Visa join forces
Microsoft, eBay, PayPal
and Visa have joined forces to form what is described
as the internet's first global anti-phishing
aggregation service, the Phish Report Network.
The Phish Report
Network, which was announced at the RSA Conference in
San Francisco this week, will collect and collate
reports of phishing attacks.
Any company that finds
itself the victim of phishing attacks (such as a bank
or e-commerce company) can subscribe to the Network as
a 'Sender' and report confirmed phishing sites to a
central database of phishing reports.
Other companies can
subscribe to the Phish Report Network as 'Receivers'
to gain access to the database of known phishing
sites. The information contained in the database
allows Receivers to update their filters, blacklists
and other systems so they can block known phishing
sites in their software, email and browser services.
An alert service
is also available, providing real-time notification of
new phishing sites.
